Murdeshwar is a town in Bhatkal Taluk of Uttara Kannada district in the state of Karnataka, India. The town is located 13 km from the taluk headquarters of Bhatkal. It is famous for the world's second tallest Shiva statue, the town lies on the coast of the Arabian Sea and is also famous for the Murudeshwara Temple. What the Murudeshwar temple is most famous for is The Massive Shiva statue it houses. Known to be the second-highest statue of Sri Anantadrishti, another name for Lord Shiva, the huge structure can be seen from afar. It is 123 feet tall and was built in over two years. Murudeshwar is a Pilgrimage destination. The best time to visit Murudeshwar is October, November, December, January and February. Since this is the peak season expect a little crowd during this time. March, April, May and June period experiences moderate weather.
